Welcome to Bracken County & Augusta, Kentucky

Augusta and Bracken County have always been special places for me. I am extremely proud of Augusta’s designation by historian Dr. Thomas Clark as one of his eleven ‘Kentucky Treasures.’   Dr. Clark has authored many books on Kentucky and is a contributing editor for the Kentucky Encyclopedia. When you visit us, I’m sure that you will understand why Dr. Clark included Augusta with such a well-known group Kentucky landmarks.

On behalf of the City of Augusta/Bracken County Tourism Department, welcome to our web site. I hope you find these pages to be informative and useful as you plan your visit. My goal for the web site is to provide as much information as possible for our out-of-town guests but if you would prefer human contact, feel free to call me at 606-756-2183, or stop by the City Office at 219 Main Street in Augusta.

Doug Padgett, Director of Tourism
