Community Center The Clooney Community Center grand opening took place on Saturday, April 26, 2008, and is now open and available for meetings, seminars, civic functions and private gatherings. The Community Center was dedicated formally on December 16, 2006, in honor of the Clooney family members Nick, Nina, Ada and George. Augusta is very fortunate to have the Clooneys as residents of Augusta. Their civic generosity and community involvement has been invaluable over the years.
The main hall was originally used as the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and was built around 1869. The building was later (1936) used as the American Legion Hall. The Clooneys subsequently acquired the building adjacent to the main hall and later donated it to the City of Augusta.

This historic building has a state-of-the-art audio/visual system and is ideal for presentations, meetings and private gatherings. The capacities are: 240 people with seating only, and 112 people seated at tables. There is a small kitchen in the rear of the new addition. The main hall is 1958 sq. ft. in area and has beautiful white oak flooring. It is equipped with central heating and air conditioning, and has tall ceilings in keeping with it's historic character. Applications, pricing and policies and reservations are available at the City Office in Augusta, or by calling 606-756-2183.
