I have been through several times since we moved. I noticed the house we lived in was gone. I was sad to have had to move, and even to this day I still miss the town and it's people. I can truly say some of my fondest memories were riding the ferry boat, fishing and school basketball games. I hope to get back soon... 4/3/2011 11:33:26 PM Robert.L.Sexton from Coventry, Rhode Island said... I miss visiting Augusta. The last time I was there was in 1993. When I was a little girl, we would take the ferry every other Sunday to get to Ripley, Ohio, to see my grandmother and my aunt. Last summer, I retraced my steps with my own little girl. I hadn't been in Augusta proper for over 25 years, and I hadn't boarded the ferry for at least that long. I cried through the short trip, remembering my childhood. It brought back such wonderful times! My daughter wants to do it again this year. I hope we can stop in the lively little town for a while before or after our trip to Ripley. My, how things have changed for you! 3/23/2011 6:07:22 AM Joy from Aberdeen , Kentucky said... Even on a rainy November day, Augusta was special and will always hold a place in my heart. We go there on the weekends in the summer and always find an excuse to visit Augusta. In fact, we like it so much, we're going to build there. I suggest, if you have not had a chance to meet the county officials, please make an effort to do so, especially Tracy Florer, the P.V.A. and John in his office. They'll make you feel right at home. The friendiest in this County is just what this Country needs. 12/2/2009 8:57:08 AM Mike Mason from Kentucky said... We are looking forward to Augusta`s Christmas parade. I was just checking on up to date information on the Ghost Walk and see that people have the same thoughts as us. We went on some of the first rides and have been disappointed in the last 2 years on the route too. We just love Augusta and all the small events you host every year. I think your Ghostwalk is popular enough to warrant more thought process in the routes every year. I would hope that the city would realize that you must have a new route year and alway use your history. Thats what makes you special! 9/10/2009 11:57:41 PM Wallace from Maysville, Kentucky said... Just wanted to comment on the Ghost Walk.We have heard so much about it and decided to come down last year,I was very dissapointed after all I had heard.I was just reading some of the earlier posts and seen that others felt the same way.It was nothing more than a hay ride, pretty lame for such a town that has so much history with haunted houses.Dont let this get away from you, make it better. 9/4/2009 2:43:18 PM Emma Ward from Alexandria, Kentucky said... I wanted to make a short comment on the Ghost Walk. This is a event enjoyed by my family over the last several years. I justed wanted to say that I`m worried about it after hearing people complain about it. Please take a few minutes before deciding the route. You have great civil war history and "Bloody Mary" please use it! It starting to get alittle more boring every year. It is such a nice event but I think it needs to have the tunnel in it! 8/30/2009 12:13:58 AM Sara Walton from Mount Vernon, Indiana said... My husband and I just love Augusta and adore the Ghostwalk. We have been on the ride for the past 3 years. I don`t want to complain because we know how hard those type of events are BUT....we are planning to attend this year and hope that the committee that designs the routes please do not cut it short. It also should include Long Stretch too. 8/17/2009 1:13:36 AM Cheryl Morgan from Royal Oak, Michigan said... My dad is from Augusta and someday I hope to get back there for a visit. Your website is beautiful!! I was born across the river in Chilo, Oh; however my husband, (Tommmy) went to elementary school in Augusta. We try to get to Augusta ever Summer, but probably won't make it this year. We enjoy just sitting on the porch every day with family and just relaxing! Keep up the good work with your website, we truly enjoy it.

As a child we visited many times crossing on the ferry each time. To see and experience this website is wonderful. My father would have been in awe. We hope to enjoy the hotel accomodations soon.
Keep up the good work. God Bless 5/29/2008 7:53:58 PM Monte Madden Myers from Sparks , Nevada said... Thanks Wanda, It is always good to take a trip 'back home'; even by email. Some things have changed but the best (the people)are still great. Hi to all my friends and classmates who may read this. Monte 5/29/2008 3:44:13 PM Jim Kegley from Portsmouth, Ohio said... It is a pleasant and scenic drive down Rte. 52 from Portsmouth to the ferry landing one mile west of Higginsport, Ohio. I've driven to the ferry landing numerous times over the past ten years. I love to bring friends along and treat them to the ferry ride, and the wonderful food, scenery and businesses in Augusta. I've eaten at the Bee Hive many times and love the food and ambiance.

Especially enjoyed the quilt tour in the links section and thrilled to see the proximity of the various agribusinesses in the county. With the great product selections and varity of activities these venues offer, Bracken County has more great reasons to be proud. Keep up the good work! 5/10/2008 2:56:17 PM M.
